Operationes chirurgicae novum lumen exhibentes obstetricantibus
Author: DEVENTER, Hendrik van (1651-1724)
Van Deventer was a great obstetrician of his time, sometimes called the ”Father of Modern Midwifery”. In his book, Operationes chirurgicae, he gives the first accurate description of the female pelvis and its deformities, and the effect of the latter in complicated labour. His illustrations in the book represented the pelvis more accurately than any previously published.
