  • De vocis auditusquae organis historia anatomica -
  • Author: CASSERIO, Giulio (ca. 1552–1616)
  • A beautifully illustrated monograph on the vocal and hearing organs in man and animals, a work which set the standard for anatomical copperplate illustration as Vesalius had done for woodcut illustration. The plates were drawn and engraved by Joseph Maurer. The fine engraved title, with its surrealistic border of human and animal skeletons (featuring winged skeletons of putti, chameleons and reptiles, birds, etc) may be unique in the history of iconography in its use of dissected putti.
