  • De humani corporis fabrica libri septem -
  • Author: VESALIUS, Andreas (1514–1564)
  • Vesalius’ Fabrica is the greatest work ever published on human anatomy. Vesalius’ masterpiece is not only one of the most remarkable books known to science, it is one of the most noble and magnificent volumes in the history of printing. His remarkable accurate text is coupled with woodcut anatomical illustrations of artistic and technical brilliance in a comprehensive study of bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, abdominal viscera, thoracic organs, and the brain. Few men in medical history have dominated their subject of their epoch as did Vesalius. The illustrations have been attributed to a number of different artists. It is likely that Titian, or some of his pupils from the studio in Venice were involved, but Vesalius himself was a good artist too.
